Congolese Civil Participation in Election Debate: Seeking Clarity on Refugee Policy
Congolese civil society actively participated in an election debate, seeking clarity from political parties on their stance regarding the future of refugees in South Africa. This engagement aimed to ensure that refugee rights and policies are prioritized in the national discourse.
Conversation between Congolese Civil Society and UNDP on SA Election Observation
Congolese civil society engaged in discussions with the UNDP regarding the observation of South Africa’s elections. This collaboration aimed to ensure transparent and credible electoral processes, highlighting the importance of international oversight in democratic practices.

An orientation and information program was conducted in collaboration with Congolese civil society and Scalabrini Community Work to discuss the new laws introduced by the Department of Home Affairs. This program aimed to educate the community on the latest legal changes and their implications, fostering awareness and understanding.
Africa Day Collaboration: Reflecting on Congo's Minerals
Africa Day was commemorated in collaboration with Tshisimani, SAFTU, and other South African activists to reflect on Congo’s minerals and their humanitarian and political impacts.
The event aimed to raise awareness about the challenges surrounding Congo’s mineral resources, highlighting their significance and the need for ethical and sustainable practices.
National Nuclear Regulator Submission
The National Nuclear Regulator submitted a proposal for the extension of the life of the Koeberg Power Station in Table View, Cape Town. This submission aims to ensure continued energy production and stability for the region.
Cape Town High Court Case: Interdict for Detention and Protection of Refugees in SA
A significant case was brought before the Cape Town High Court against the Department of Home Affairs regarding the interdiction for detention and protection of refugees in South Africa. This legal action seeks to address crucial issues concerning refugee rights and protection within the country.
IEC Electoral Observers Training in Cape Town: Congolese Civil Members
Congolese civil members participated in Electoral Observers Training organized by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Cape Town. This training aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to observe and ensure the integrity of electoral processes.
Refugee Day Celebrations
On June 20th, we celebrated Refugee Day in Joburg, honoring the resilience and contributions of refugees. The event was graced by notable attendees including representatives from the Department of Home Affairs, the Acting Second Deputy, and ambassadors from France, Italy, and Belgium. Representatives from the sports and agriculture sectors were also present.
Presentation by Congolese Civil Society
The Congolese civil society presented a new project to the National Social Development Department in Pretoria. The project focuses on enhancing efficient social cooperation in South Africa.
Welcoming New Internship Students
We are excited to welcome two new program internship students in collaboration with the Congolese office from a U.S. university. This partnership aims to foster international cooperation and provide valuable learning experiences.
The Congolese Civil Society of South Africa is in data base of city of Cape Town particularly in the subcouncil 16.
On the 25th April 2024, the CCSSA participated in the budget meeting of subcouncil 16 for better improvement of the CBD, our input was taken in consideration and we will be participated in any need of suggestion for a better city.
The Congolese Civil Society of South Africa is working in partnership with SAFCEI, Project 90, Koeberg Alliance and all the organization dealing with climate change and nuclear.
On the 27th April 2024, it was the nuclear anniversary of the court case about nuclear deal in South Africa by SAFCEI. The Congolese Civil Society of South Africa was invited to part of the event which started in parliament and continue at Labia for nuclear film of how nuclear power plant become a danger worldwide.
